About Applewood

Greg Petrauski and Debbie White

Greg Petrauski and Debbie White started Applewood in 1993 with the idea of creating a new assisted living residence which would provide exceptional care for their own grandparents.  Greg was fortunate to have his grandmother reside in his family home while  growing up.  When the need arose for additional care for his grandmother, he and his family had great difficulty finding an assisted living residence that met his grandmother’s needs while still feeling home-like in nature.  Debbie was working in the physical therapy department at Sacred Heart Hospital when the vision for Applewood was conceived.  Ms. White’s family was also facing the need for care and has had three grandparents reside at Applewood throughout the 20 plus year history.

Applewood started in 1993 with the construction and operation of three 8-bed residences.  Greg and Debbie decided to move on to larger facilities so they could help more people.  They began construction on the New Berlin location in 1996, expanded it in 1998, and remodeled the entire residence in 2015.  Applewood of Brookfield was opened in 2013.   Throughout the expansion, Applewood has continued as a family run business with active on-site daily involvement by both Greg and Debbie.  The family nature of Applewood has enabled the caring team of individuals who work at Applewood the opportunity to form special relationships with each resident, their family members, and loved ones.
